This unit opens the door to the standard physics curriculum. Most of my students have retained very little of their mathematical education. This unit simultaneously reviews and introduces mathematical skills (like scientific notation, significant digits, and unit converstion) necessary to do science. Care is given to painstakingly introduce mathematical methods and the use of computers in science.
