Students use force tables to first predict and then test the product of two vectors. The lab sheet, equipment, and results are pictured in this powerpoint.
Materials: force tables (2 or 3), mass hangers(3 per force table), assorted masses (20g, 15g, 10g, 5g, 2g, 1g)
This is the lab sheet. Diagrams and step by step instructions are included. The first page guides students towards a mathematical solution. The second page instructs the students to check their predictions and write their conclusions. I don't give students the second page until I've check the first page (see force table lab solutions.xls).
Each group of three students is given different data. Students use this document to sign up for groups and get their data.
This worksheet has the solution for each group. I use this to assist students and grade labs.
