The electricity unit is a very hands-on introduction to electricity. Students use lots of light bulbs and batteries. Particular emphasis is placed on understanding simple circuits.

Highlights:

The lab, circuit lab.doc, asks students to use Ohm's Law to make and test predictions.

Circuit Diagrams.ppt shows students how to use current loops to tell if circuit elemnts are connected in series or in parallel.

The cable cars project is the culminating activity. Students use what they learned to turn cheap propellors, dc motors, and wire into cars capable of travelling on parallel copper wires attached to a 12V DC power supply.
